Spiritual cultivation

修行法门在於戒、定、慧。
1. 戒是道德的生活
2. 定是意念的制衡
3. 慧是心靈的净化
落實到自己的日常生活中,以觉知與平等的心去面對-切,使自己能夠真正做自己的主人,不做習性的奴隷。

We need to observe disciplines, tranquility and wisdom in our spiritual cultivation.

Disciplines imply us to live an upright person with right morality and humanity.

Tranquility is to able to tame our mind and control it from thinking and doing wrong deeds.

Wisdom is utilise to purify and upgrade our spiritual level.

With awareness and mindfulness to engage in our daily activities and chores is to stabilise our mind.

We learn to treat each and everyone fairly and equally with respects and loving kindness.

We are the master of own life and not a slave to bow down to this materialistic and distorted world where we are living.

Walking meditation and Tai Chi

Walking meditation helps you to develop concentration with awareness.
Each step that touches the ground will awaken your inner being.
As you progress, you find your body and ‘That’ are there bonded together.
Bliss and peacefulness come into existence for you to enjoy.

I realise this understanding while I am deeply involved while doing my Tai Chi practice.

The ‘I’, the ego has just disappeared.
The energy of the outside cosmic universe and your own little inner cosmic universe energy just merges to form into ‘Oneness’.
Hence you are the one who is bathing in the cosmic sea of bliss and peace.

行禅有助于开发定力与觉知。
每一步与大地接触的当下都会震醒你的心灵。
在这过程,你会发现你身体与“祂”紧密的连结在一起。
幸福与宁静美妙的感受为你而出现。

我是透过很深入的太极锻炼之中才领悟到其中的道理。

“自我” 就从此消失了。
那大宇宙的能量与你自己小宇宙的能量就这样溶为一体。
因此你就是浸泡在宇宙幸福及宁静海洋中的那一位。

Walking meditation may help peaceful minded N good physical movement, but it also could be very dangerous to physical as well. For example: tripped or hit on something than falling down, or somehow could accidentally unintentionally stepped on innocent lives and killed them. Like new born baby cats, dogs, etc. It also could be stepped on poisons venomous reptiles that could cause deadly.
In my opinion, I would rather practice exercise as much as I could, than sit still practice meditation is better..


You can walk in your house or garden in circle.


You both have great advice, Uncle Chow Cheong King and Sis N, Walking meditation and Sitting meditation’re the best way to make people have peaceful mind and good physical, thanks for sharing your idea to us 🙂

The special gem is in you

My master used to say,” Don’t seek enlightenment through me and I can’t help you.

The special gem is in you.
He can talk, eat and sleep.
He is the real one you must pay attention to.

You can’t find Him because you are covered by layers and layers of your defilement.
This defilement is like clouds.
On some occasions when the clouds move off, you begin to see a glimpse of Him like sun shining so brightly.
However the time for you to see Him is too short and the clouds again covered up the sun.

The only way to enhance your awareness, a long span of concentration and mindfulness is to accumulate more merits as you go along ”

我的师父常说:“不要透过我来寻找证悟,我帮不了你。

真宝在你自己的身上。
祂可以说话,吃饭及睡觉
祂是你真正需要关注的。

你找不到祂,是因为你被自己层层的妄念给遮盖了。
妄念就如浮云一般
有时当浮云飘走后,你才能够瞥见祂的踪影犹如太阳般灿烂。
但很快的祂又被浮云遮盖起来。

唯独加强你的觉知,透过长时间的专注与觉知,不断的累积善根福德,才是上上之策。”

Zen way of cultivation

俢行的重點,是要落在(心)而不是(坐)上。

Zen way of cultivation does not depend so much on sitting meditation it depends on the observation, reflection and correction of the heart with constant awareness and mindfulness.

Whether you are walking, standing or lying down, your awareness is always there including in eating a meal or drinking a cup of coffee or tea.

禅修不能单靠静坐,而是靠无间断的定力和覚察力去静覌、反照自己和修正自己的身口意行。

无论你是走着,站着或躺着,都要保持覚察力。这包括你吃一顿饭、喝一杯咖啡或茶时。

How I live from moment to moment

Someone told me that they live from moment to moment.
They want to know how I live from moment to moment.

When I exercise I make sure I notice and aware of every movement made by my limbs and fingers.
If I am reading a good book I merge with the spirit of the author and tap his wisdom.
When I eat I chew my food at each mouth full about forty counts and be mindful of its texture and different tastes of the food.

In actual fact living from moment to moment is to know your personal reaction with all environments and activities.
This will sharpen your mind with longer span of concentration and awareness so that your distracted running thoughts have no chance to disturb your inner peace and bliss.

有些人告訴我,自己是"活在當下"的。
他們想知道,我是如何"活在當下"。

當做運動時,我保持覺知於四肢(以至指頭、腳趾)的所有大小動作。
當閲讀好書時,我會和此書作者的精神合一,從而得到他的智慧。
當進食時,我會把每一口食物咀嚼大約四十次,並覺知食物的質感變化和各種味道。

其實,"活在當下"就是要覺知自己對所有的環境和活動所產生的身心反應。
這樣會使到頭腦的集中力和覺知力增長、增強。而雜念則沒機會影響你的內在平淨和喜悅。

Reach the level of a Buddha

發觉自性是第一步。

我们要时时关爱它使它能跟你的觉知和正念在一起成長把自己灵性提高到逹稳定的水平。

这样就機會开發識根成为圓满无上的智慧。

那个时候你也成为一位圆满的无上智者,开悟的佛佗。

Knowing or discovering your true self is a starting step.

You need to take good care of it to allow your awareness and mindfulness to work along with it.

Then your spiritual level will ascend to a higher level.

When you reach a matured stage it helps to enhance and develop your mind consciousness to attain a completed Maha wisdom.
Only then you are awakened and reached the level of a Buddha.

True buddhist use logical, scientific and wise to handle changes

To be a true Buddhist, not only you have to aware of what is going on in your mind, you got to know the changing situation that is effecting your life.
You also need to know the changes that are taking place in the whole world.

You need to have an open mind to make changes accordingly and accept the reality that is effecting you.
You can not just be merely sitting down to meditate and doing your prayer and chanting, your awareness should able to detect the coming events whether it is good or bad and you need to learn to adjust or accommodate all matter coming to you.

In short you need to be logical, scientific and wise to handle the changes so that there is a minimum cause of alarm.

要做一位真正的佛教徒,你不止要覚知心念的流向,也要对生活环境的变化有所警惕。你也要知道全世界的变化。

对你有影响的实况,你要用开放的态度去改变和接纳它。你不能只光坐着禅修,祈拜唸咒。 你应当覚察即将发生的事情,是好是坏你要学会調整和包容一切狀况。

总而言之你要用逻辑,科学态度和智慧去处理变化, 把惊动化到越小越好。

Awareness and Mindfulness

Awareness uses all senses to know what things that within our sight and around us. We hear noises and feel the warmth or coldness of air around. We just notice the presence of all matter and things of our surrounding with no judgement and discrimination.

Mindfulness is using mental capacity to learn and memories. When we look at an object we have to recognise it’s shape, size and colour. When we are holding a plate of food we have to make sure the food will not fall off while we are walking from the kitchen to the dining table. We need to be extra cautious while performing our task.

Coming back to meditation of counting of number from 1 to 10 and from 10 back to 1 we can’t miss counting the number. This is know as mindfulness.
But at the same time we hear dog barking at a distance and the night is getting darker and colder. This is awareness. We can not judge and change the situation we are in.

Hence in meditation we are developing both mindfulness and awareness at the same time.

覺知 – 運用所有的感覺器官,去了解周圍(以及視線範圍)的事物。 例如感知周圍的聲音,或空氣的冷暖程度。 我們只是覺知事物的存在,而不加入判斷和分別。

正念 – 用精神力量去學習和紀憶。 例如看一件東西時,會確認其形狀、大小、顏色。 又如拿著一碟食物,由廚房行去餐枱時,我們都會很小心地不讓食物掉落。 當做一件事情時,我們都會用心,不讓其出錯。

在禪坐方面,例如數呼吸時,由一數至十,再由十至一。 其間不可以忘掉在數的數字,這就是「正念」的功能。 在數呼吸的同時,我們也會知道到周圍的事物變化,如遠處的狗吠聲,日落後天變黑了、溫度下降了,這就是「覺知」的功能。

我們不能論斷和改變所在的處境,所以在禪坐時,我們是在同時開發「正念」和「覺知」的能力。
