As for those who ask the monk for prayer it is best to do a dana means send him some money. He needs the money to pay the water and electric bills for the temple. He needs to have food and drink to keep him alive.
Many of my friends used to tell me in the past that the monk or master can live on fresh air. It needs two hands to clap. If you need a monk or a master to give you blessing and protection you need to keep him alive to teach you dharma. You need not have to donate a lot but at least keep him alive. Normally the monk or master never demand anything from you. But you have to use your wisdom. I use to ask my students to send some money to the monk who has helped them.
Comments :
such false statement can’t expected at least from u r real teaching? I feel unpleasant to read it?
Why? Many people take advantage of others who have helped them. They do not even say a word of thanks.
Money is so often used only for selfish gains. It’s refreshing to see it put to good use for a change! _/\_
Give enough to spend not over the limit or it will make the monk greedy and want more . Greed always make a person commit crime and corruption .
Some people just dont understand that and thinks Monks are commercialise when they accept money or gifts.
Please look back Buddha’s way that Buddha had shown us. No one force anyone to be a monk or nun, to become a monk or nun are all by personal choice like we are layties we choose to be a businessman or employee by our own choice with all it’s consequences. A person when he/she choose to be ordained and renounced must understand and accept all the hardship that may come to them as a part and consequent of practice as well as for layties. So what”s is the definition of renounced ? A truly renounced masters will never worry about their needs because when they take care of the dharma, the dharma will take care of them. Sometimes b/c of our own ignorance..we have blindly do donation and i/o helping we bring harm to others and make the dharma become so commercial now…let’s go back to Buddha’s way…namaste
The present situation or environment is different. Sometimes we still need to help some poor unfortunate ones. Not all monks karma is favourable.
Yes Master Chow the devine and authentic monks and nuns are deserve for help and supports…and we need wisdom to determine who are authentics and who are not. Namaste
What I mean is look back to Buddha’s way and not Buddha’s time. 2 days ago i just had a phone discussion with my thai teacher that he said the mental state and motivation of monks and nuns are so different with in ancient time and that’s why enlightenment is so difficult. The teaching itself has been developed in such a way which is very rich in theory and concept but seriously diverted and distorted. Namaste
So what chance we have of getting enlightened in this age ? Probably there is a higher chance of seeing a pig fly as they said.
you’ll see pig flying…in cartoon movie…well enlightenment is not either easy or impossible, and we usually think too much…too much conception…and this is also my homeworks
We are already enlightened. He is still looking for a second enlightenment?
If we say we are enlighted, this means we all having the same Buddha nature, we all having the same potential for awaken, the problem is we haven’t figured it out as our purity is covered by all impurities that carrying over with us from countless of past lifes…
The Buddha said,” Light up the dark room of aeon years past. All impurities of dust will be vanished.”
It is the heart chakra that we need to light up. Correct me if I am wrong.
Theory of light up is very beautifull, exercising it is another..and my teacher always poured me cool water if I say ” buddha said bla bla…..” and he asked me back ” did you hear it yourself buddha spoke that ?” If not it’s still just a hearsay but good hearsay will bring benefit too…just like the story in master nan’s book about the young finger monk..😀😀😀
Sis Y – when you got it all figured out, please take me as your first student.
A master is humble down to be your student. Sis Y
It will be realky blindman leading you…ready to jump off the clift…becarefull…muo jiau…
I don’t think so master..
..my thai teacher always take poison to ckean my poison..
Agreed to what you explained . Excellent .
