If a teaching brings good and effective result, use it

A minister of China once said, ” Whether it is a white cat or black cat as long as it can catch a mouse, it is good cat.”

Lord Buddha in the Diamond Sutra said that he had not teach or expound any dharma. If anyone said that the buddha had taught the dharma this person had wronged him.

Whatever I write on my post if you find it useful or helpful you may take note. If my materials are outdated and proved to be untrue, drop them and delete my name away. Please do not question me and said the Buddha had not say this or that.

When I introduce some ways and means to help my students to get rid of their troubles or sickness, they always look at me and said that they are not aware of such teachings or methods. But as long as it brings good and effective result, use it. Otherwise stay away from me.

Thank you for your posts. Dharma teachings are indeed supposed to be useful: the point is to alleviate suffering. If they accomplish this, then they have done all we can ask.

1 + 1 = 2 normally usually it is correctly. Is it true…
What you think, is there another answer. Please say

Normally as you said is true. But there are cases may not be true

I agree what you wrote.
Simple way is easy to understand. What you wrote, what you taught are always as you posted. Agree or not subjected to whom’s understanding.
If 1+1=2 is too simple, they can forget or jump it over.
Mindfulness is very simple to say, but is it easy to do it………..

So very often when I read your writings a calm like gentle soothing surrounds me

Only with freedom, our mind will be spacious to accept all joy and peace

Cutting off judgement or discrimination is a right practice.

It is a way to reach a level of freedom
where the fish can swim
and the bird flies freely.

Only with freedom
our mind will be spacious
to accept all joy and peace.

Will tree growing or dying affect your feeling ?

Message From Reader :
When tree grow well i will happy … but when tree dying i still feel very sad, i cannot say let it be no affect to my feeling… that is the fact~*

Master Chow’s Reply :
It applies to all human beings. But the enlightened ones see things differently. We have to practice harder to reach such a stage of wisdom.

In life, some living things will be born everyday, some things will also die everyday. Such is the reality of the state of impermanence.

Once realise your true self, this is just the starting point of spiritual path

” What is constant?” Someone asked me.
” Change is constant.”

” What else is constant, beside change?”
” The truth is constant, and our true self or buddha nature is constant.”

Once we realise our true self, this is just the starting point to walk onto to our spiritual path.

One great grand master Hui Neng said,
” If you can’t realise your buddha nature, all your time spent in prayer or chanting the mantra or reciting the name of Buddha is a waste of time.”
This sounds rather serious but what he said is a true fact.

For those who wish to reach the final liberation, try your best to realise your own buddha nature.

Are you live a happy and meaningful life ?

Someone who is able to realise his own true nature
will live a happy and meaningful life
and his influence to others is great.

Keep smiling to everyone………

How sad that so many never seem to find their true nature until late in life when they realize how short life is.

I am putting that statement on my desk You provide such inspiration to keep making the effort to.rise above our limits. Thank you Master Chow,

If you are fully attained liberation, you need to set and work hard to set free the others

Deepest awakening will only come about
when you have accumulated enough of merits in the eons of the past
like what Lord Buddha had done.

Following that will be the blooming of your wisdom and compassion
which play an very important role to awaken your inner true self.

To finally confirm you are fully attained liberation
you need to set and work hard to set free the others.

Lord Buddha had spent 49 years in teaching
to help numerous arhats and bodhisattvas
to attain the final enlightenment.

Lesson from the seemingly endless Greek crisis and the boom and recent bust in Chinese stocks

When an economy goes wrong, look for a financial problem. That’s the lesson from the seemingly endless Greek crisis and the boom and recent bust in Chinese stocks.

It’s true that Greece suffers from a raft of economic woes typical of middle-income nations, including weak governance, inadequate investment and prosperity-sapping corruption. But it was the financial system which enabled the country’s government and people to live dangerously beyond their means.

In the six years before the crisis started in 2011, Athens’ average current account deficit was 12 percent of GDP. Foreign lenders funded the shortfall, in effect providing close to one of every eight euros spent by Greeks. The result is 311 billion euros of debt this year, by the International Monetary Fund’s estimate, or a whopping 170 percent of GDP. No wonder the IMF thinks some of that needs to be written off.

From the creditors’ perspective, most of the money was spent foolishly. They should, however, have expected that in such a poorly organised country. Another contributing factor was the false confidence instilled by the standard structure of debt instruments. Fixed interest rates and firm deadlines for repayment hid the real nature of loans to the Greek government and banks. They looked like low-risk financial transactions, but they were, in reality, permanent transfers of real resources.

Eventually, the lenders bolted. The Greeks faced demands for repayments of old loans and a sharp decline in purchasing power. A GDP reduction of 12 percent was almost unavoidable, since the trade deficit could no longer be financed. The actual plunge in output was about twice as big, in large part because the financial pressure on the government was so intense.

In a more sensible financial system, far less credit would have been extended, and the sudden evaporation of new funding would have been far less traumatic. Imagine, for example, that investors had instead provided something like preferred equity: permanent transfers with interest-like dividends that vary according to the borrower’s economic circumstances. Such structures would tie finance much more closely to economic reality.

Investors’ rashness should not be underestimated, so there might still have been a Greek financing bubble. Still, equity-like investments invite more careful initial scrutiny than debt, which promises known interest rates and repayment dates. Besides, stockholders cannot cause trouble by demanding their money back when they want to get out.

The current turmoil in the Chinese stock market is a reminder that shares can also attract their own financial unreality. On July 15, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index closed more than 80 percent higher than a year earlier – but more than 25 percent down from its early June peak. In economic terms, both the boom and the partial bust are essentially illusory.

As yet, the gyrations have had no clear effect on China’s economy. Official data on Wednesday put annualised GDP growth in the second quarter at a still healthy 7 percent. The Chinese are lucky. In more financially developed countries, bubbly stock markets lead to wasteful investments in trendy industries while sharp selloffs can damage the economy by shaking the confidence of investors and everyone who listens to them moan about the disappearance of their paper gains.

Even so, the Chinese authorities seem to think the stock market slide puts the country at risk. After having pretty much ignored the runup, they have intervened heavily to keep the fall from accelerating.

The one-sided regulatory effort is typical. Government interests generally get sucked into the enthusiasm when financial systems are inspiring unsustainable confidence, even though they are distorting the real economy. In Greece, the willingness to put huge amounts of money into the obviously weak economy was welcomed as a demonstration of belief in the euro zone.

The authorities do, though, tend to respond to financial busts. After the global financial crisis of 2008, there was talk about the need for fundamental changes to financial arrangements. That has not happened. From Brussels to Beijing, the powers-that-be look lost.

Incompetence and the financial industry’s excessive political influence may be issues, but the main problem is more conceptual. Regulators and the regulated alike fail to recognise the danger of letting finance diverge too far from the real economy.

The continued reliance on fixed-rate loans with fixed maturities is a prime example. Such instruments may have been the least bad approach in pre-modern economies, where inflation was rare, investment funds were scarce and harder to move around, and information was scanty. Now, however, it’s clear the financial system needs more durable and flexible instruments. A restructured Greek financing could be a great test case.

The Chinese economy, meanwhile, would be safer if equity markets attracted fewer gamblers. That would not be hard to arrange, with an appropriate mix of taxes and interventions. However, the authorities need to discard any residual faith that financial markets are self-regulating. They’d do well instead to treat finance as an unruly servant of the real economy – one with a tendency to run wild.

All the above come down to simple conclusion :
The people that manage the banks were still as greedy, the were desperate to lend out the excess money to the public to make more money.
In some countries, people lend money from underground money lenders to gamble in the stocks. That’s where the easy money is available, such naive thinking !
In some countries, the government have allowed people to speculate in properties, make housing so unaffordable, when people start to criticise the government, then action is taken to curb speculation. It may at time become too late, the harm done is irreverable already.

As long as Banks exercise caution, and squeeze, all is well

You need to awake and communicate with the inner master

This morning I just did a short exercise in the 1st form. As I raise the hands slowly while attending to the body sensation, I felt I was lifting an iron block on the left hand while the right hand was light like feather.
Discovery is a form of wisdom and realisation.

I read many you talk about the real teacher is within. Again, this morning a realization came to me why you said that.
Awakening of your inner teacher who has been sleeping most of time.
It follows us from the beginning of our lives through aeons of years.
I experienced at one stage when my body was cold with hunger and very weak in breathing almost at an edge of leaving the world during my stay of five days in a cave, my inner being became awakened and left my body.
Realising I was still alive it went back into my body.

From this experience I realise that I need to awake and communicate with this inner master of mine.

Giver Vs Receiver – on planting the seeds of wisdom

The givers who can keep on giving away his knowledge, kindness, concerns, unconditional love and material items has his mind becomes spacious to plant his seeds of wisdom.

A receiver keeps on receiving many items from others has accumulated too many matter in his mind. His mind has least space to plant his seeds of wisdom.

This is my observation. No one should feel offended. If you are a receiver it is time to reflect on yourself and make room for your cultivation of wisdom.

The more you give, the less you have to care for;the more you accumulated the more you are responsible for them. If you don’t care for them then you feel guilty for neglecting. If you care for them then you are loosing from your precious 24 hours. The choice is all yours.

The more u give without expectation the more u gain

Accepting different experience in every TaiChi session is important

I did my tai chi practice but I don’t feel the localised heavy/light hand anymore. Maybe it’s another one time phenomenon like all my other experiences. So it’s not that I don’t want to remember, its they don’t come.
Each time of practice brings different feelings. It is good to be aware of it. Our life pattern changes all the time. No moment is the same. Developing mindfulness and awareness is the right thought. Don’t be so attach to any feeling.

Cos I thought u asked me to remember.
To remember the principles and concepts of Tai Chi is a guidance – yes. To maintain it to be the same is not possible because we are human with 5 senses. The senses keeping changing that causes the change of feeling. I ate the same kind of durian twice at different day. This same kind does not give me the same feeling of the taste. Acceptance is importance because it will not affect our thinking and mood.

Last night I woke up close to 2am n felt v restless n very soon, frustrated because I couldn’t get back to sleep. I tried breathing exercise n it made me feel worse cos I couldn’t calm down. In the end, at 2am, I woke up n walked to the balcony n starting doing tai chi. Strangely I started to relax ñ did it for half hour n then went back to sleep with restlessness gone.
Now you know why I spent more than 40 years learning Tai chi. I don’t feel dull even I repeat the same movement again and again. Every movement brings me joy and bliss. I discover compassion and wisdom from there. I am reborn every day and at every moment.
